BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE BLONDE

In the studio…

I know it’s been a while since my last post.  I have been working like crazy to finish samples to show to potential investors at the end of the month.  It’s definitely been a process of trial and lots of error as I am faced with the fact that the luxury of sample sewers and pattern makers are not in my immediate future.  Despite the headaches, I can’t imagine doing anything else.  Designing, definitely is a labor of love!

Using this splatter print as my source of color inspiration, I chose drapey and buttery fabrics such as tencel and silk and this beautiful ballet pink lace.

Paper pattern for a skirt that I’m completing.

This dress does not fit into any part of my collection but I had this fabric and I thought it would make a beautiful Resort gown.  It’s just pinned on the form, I’ll start sewing it today.

To create print and texture to the plain silk fabrics, I will use these dyes and create my own patterns for a one of a kind print inspired by the art and images on my inspiration board.

A half done pattern card for a backless shift dress that I will later dip dye to create an ombre effect.  I can’t wait to show you when it’s done!

A quick coffee and donut break across the street and I’m back to work.  Happy Monday!
